Default my chevron project car
hey guys just thought id have a bit of a n00b introduction, tell you what im up to... and where im going
6 months ago, i bought myself a 89 chevron sports car rolling chasse... complete minus engine, engine accessories(radiator etc) and gearbox....
heres a photo of a fine example of a chevron sports car...

ofcourse mine isnt as fine example as this one, but it still cost me us$2300, but if its a dollar not spent on preformance, then its a dollar best spent somewhere else

then i went out and bought a 13b-rew that was pulled out of a 96 bathurst edition fd done 60,000 kms(about 40,000 miles).. it was complete, minus ecu, radiator etc

and now im lining up a series 6 gearbox for $500

now the chevron is made here in NZ, a fair few get exported to japan and aus, but none that i know of make it to the US... i dont know why, im guessing you guys have your own replica lotus 7's....

they weigh in at a massive 600kg complete....

next move is to fit the engine, then go out an buy a apexi power FC, to4e custom made turbo or somthing and a big intercooler... sadly, their is such little room in the engine bay of these cars that the turbo is kinda gonna be sticking out the side of the car, but ke sera sera

i have no idea what this car will be like with this sort of power... or for that matter how much power this setup will be without doing the injectors.....

but yeah, if i ask a question, somehow it is going to be related to the above listed project... im told that over 300hp the chevrons chasse begins to twist a lil bit, but we will have to wait and see

tell me what you think, thanks for your time
cheers

Set up engine and tranny braces... that'll help you a bit.

AHHHH i see now, thankyou for curing me of my ignorence, sorri about the arrogance
thats a pretty cool idea, the chevron has kinda limited amount of mounting positions tho although im sure i could rig something... i am probibly gunna use boost control, so that should take alot of the strain out, and also im gunna try to find some pretty heavy duty mounts, like landcruiser ones....

quote of the day is
'if your in control, your obviously not going fast enough"

isnt the general rule of thumb, aslong mounts are desighned for a heavier engine, a lighter engine wont move, and thus wont put any strain on the drivetrain?

im unsure help me out here

not many people posting in this forum...

cheers

is that the link you sent me? i looked at it, and i envied it.. i only wish i could one day make such diner an example... im unsure tho on where my chevrons going to bend... i think it will be moreso acceleration than the physical turning of the engine... i wish i knew more... ill most definitely try to make a mount like the one in the link you sent me... its just that if i do that it costs me 200 in cert because its a chassee mod
wait and see

cheers

BSP chassis are used by NASCARS for its rigididty(sp) and of course for it's weight factor.

And steering response will greatly improve, as well.
