Opinions On My 89 Rx-7 Exhaust, Please!
I have an 89 rx-7 GXL n/a and its stock dual exhaust is missing the left muffler so i want to replace the exhaust with a little upgrade, i originally wanted the dual apexi N1 but i dont have $600, so then i was thinking this Cheap ebay 4" cat-back but 4" is just rediculous, rite?.. so now im thinking of just getting 2
3" - 3.5" mufflers from ebay something like this? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/3-5-T...Q5fAccessories and then i want to put a test/race pipe or high flow cat to replace the cat, opinions? recomendations?

i think 4 inch might be a little excessive...especially for n/a. dual 3's would be a pretty cool setup and would probably sound good
if we can get some opinions from members or guests with an n/a and aftermarket exhaust that would be great, maybe even throw a video on here (or at least a link to youtube or something)

I can honestly tell you that you will hate yourself if you tried any exhaust larger then a 3" on a NA. A 2.5" exhaust will do you just fine, Really to go with a 3" I would say you would need a decent port job otherwise we are just talking about making noise. I don't know what other mods you have or plan to have in the near future, but that's my suggestion. Anything bigger is for the turbo cars & big port NA's.

I do agree with boosted as n/as do require some backpressure contrary to turbo, I wouldn't even consider 3"

I just noticed the link you had there. Wow they have N1 style mufflers for $10 with $20 shipping. You got to love the claims these Ebay product make. Now the N1 I looked at on there did have a 2.5" inlet, so if you wanted to try them out buy them & have a muffler shop fab up the rest of the system with 2.5" piping to a free flow cat or silencer. The 3.5" or 4" exit / tip is not going to be the deciding factor just the inlet sizing.

I will never knock a product just because it's cheap, but I will question it's quality. I have came across a few guys running Ebay turbo manifolds with success & I know of a few guys that run high dollar manifold with tons of issues. I actually know a guy who ran an Ebay turbo, manifold & FMIC for 3 yrs @ a little over 330 to the wheels no problems. He sold all that and got a Garrett turbo & it lasted one summer @ around the same power.

I agree, but look at the construction! Besides, I'd look for ones that are chambered rather.
That also bring back memories of friends buying glasspack because it was cheap & loud.
