RX7 Running Rich and won't start

Hi. After clearing mouse nest out of my air filter and replacing the airflow meter, my car is running rich and won't start. remove plugs and clear it out. Try to start it and floods again. On the first key turn it sounds like it's so close to starting but doesn't. Anyone know what might make it run that rich and keep it from starting? Maybe it's something common and that I should check first? Appreciate responses in advance
