not sure about the RX7, but on most cars, if you just block it off, you'll have very hard steering. you can check this by trying to turn the wheels with the car not running. that's how it will turn once all the power steering set up is removed. you'll also have to deal with the pump. if you remove it, you'll have to get another belt that will fit a non-power set up.

well if you just turn the wheel with the car not running and all the power steering stuff hooked up its hard because your pushing all that fluid through the sistem I was thinking if I drain all the fluid out off the rack and then cap it off it should be easier what do you think.

like i said, not sure on the RX7, but you'll still need to have some fluid in the system to lubricate the gears.
so, doesn't look like it would be that much trouble to plug the hoses and see how it works. i'd be curious to see how it works out for you. keep us posted if you do this.
most of my experience is with the old non-rack systems and i know they were very hard to steer, but maybe you're right, could be the fact you're still pushing all the fluid around.

ill probably drain all the fluid and fill it with grease and if its still hard to steer after all that I will have to take the rack out of the housing and cut the piston off or somthing. im starting this in a few weeks

To properly remove the PS you will need to run a non power rack or modify the power rack.
Here is a thread on how to De-Power your rack. There are a few how to's out there's another one by TitaniumTT.

I would go with a manule rack but the mazda trix angle kit im geting only fits power steering racks. so basicly what there saying is I have to take the rack out and cut that seal out.

Follow the procedure on de powering the rack the way it was written. I have not done this myself as of yet & might actually let someone else who has already done it do mine.
