300zx
350z's aren't as good of a platform as the 300zx. It's transmission doesn't hold up to too much modifcation. I know many 400 HP 300zx (assuming you're talking about the newest generation of them. The 80's ones don't compare)
Rx8s don't match up to any of these cars. They're overrated unless you feel like spending the money to catch the car up to the others. Very nice interior though.

I agree with Aus...go with the 300zx. They perform batter and look batter...IMHO.
RX8 do suck, but I never have seen the inside before...what Aus...pretty nice?

If you can find one for a decent price, a 300zx is definately the better buy. All other things aside, it will probably cost you like $20,000 less to own and you can always use that cash for mods. Plus, you get the benefit of an established aftermarket. As hard as Stillen is working to crank out parts for the 350z, what it has for the 300zx is phenomenal.
That VG30DE(TT) is a real PITA to work on though... ever see a 300 under the hood? It's PACKED!

I had a 90 300zx, and I can tell you from experience that they are alot of fun to drive. Mine wasn't the TT model but it did have a five speed and was plenty quick.
They are a pain to work on though, there is no room at all under the hood, its fender to fender and radiator to firewall all motor the plenum on the car is enourmous.
And not to mention that the 300zx is one of the sexiest cars ever built. You just can't drive a car like that without being noticed.
Only drawback to the car that I owned was the the T-tops leaked just a little bit, and from what I understand that is about the norm on them. They don't leak with the car sitting its when you are driving and the rain is running up the window that it leaks in the corners.

I say go with whatever your into. If money is not an issue. I would go with a 300zx to tune and make into a hp monster. If you want a good weekend car go with a rx-8. 350z is also a good choice, but I have a magazine that has a 300zx thats at 1,098hp. Crazy machine. I'll give you those mods just P/M me and I'll be happy to type them for you .

I always liked the 300zx. I'd agree with everyone here, that 300zx would be the best choice performance wise. I saw some video (japanese) and 3 companies modded the 350z, and one was turboed and maing 500hp. I can try to find the video soemwhere. I just don't think that the rx-8 is at all what people think it is performance wise.
