I have a94 rx-7 with 99% of the moving parts having been replaced in the last 8K miles....I also have a 1998 Twin Turbo Supra with 37K original miles both are for the most part stock cause most mods cause issues and issues cost money and emmission issues cause more issues and on and on just to tell someone how your car is faster than really fast....cause these are fast when stock and well maintained...

I have a hard time not driving both but the supra wins, the solid quiet ride, I highly suggest a low mile 98 supra as it has a few changes which make it nicer than the rest years and much more quiet and enjoyable to drive....it also get considerably better mileage much much better....

The supra cost me 27K and the rx cost 12.5k but in the last 6 years the rx has cost me an additional 15k easy...and still has issues even though I take it to peter farrell supercars for everything and they are the best around where I live and I have never given them a minimum as far as $ and it still stalls and idles ruff..

lastly the interiors do not even compare in quality.....if i could do it all again I would have gotten the supra first but the cost got me and then the real cost of the mazda really got me and when a simple repair takes 3 weeks at a specialist for the mazda the supra is easily repaired by any mechanic anywhere cheap and fast....

good luck and they are both awesome cars and try to ignore paint color and get the best interior possible, best low mile mechanicly sound as sabsolutely last worry about stock as possible and worry about the paint and door dings absolutely last...if you worry about it at all. Paint is cheap and door dings cheaper and anyone fixes these a million dudes on every corner the rest is impossible to fix replace and find if you ever find the part you need.... you will agree if you follow those suggestions with either car

ps an awesome automatic transmission car isnt gay it is usually low mile cheaper and in great shape in and out or you can shift all freaking day and drive a piece of junk cause you had to have a manual transmission....you can always change the auto to a manual and the cost is usually 5K in either car installed with part and stupid people selling automatic models think no one will buy them so they sell cheap and need no fixing inside and out and if youe save 5 grand swap for a manual if it really means that much to you but remember chicks usually cant drive manual and wives fall for the sports car if they can drive it and in my case I always break an ankle or foot or screw up some part of my body and wish I had an auto especially in shitty traffic or on back roads with tons of stop signs etc....

enjoy it if you ever decide

The more I do research on the rx7 the more horror stories I read. Seems like the cons out weigh the pros. I was stumped too on which car to get, 350z, STI, EVO or RX7. Now, it's between 350z or STI. But, I just love the way the rx7 looks but like i said seems like they're a big pain in the ass to maintain. Oh, and this will be my daily driver so probably an rx7 wouldn't be a good idea.

Default sup
maintenance and then they f there car up and blame the car instead of them self's.

its all about how you upkeep it, a RX7 can be reliable as long as you stay on top of maintenance. don't do stupid modifications and you get a wide band!

Most ppl I know that have RX-7 are crazy about its unique yet simple combustion system which capable of producing amazing power. Supra, you mentioned could be and lot of them surpass power over RX-7, however, due to its engine design warped head can give you a major issue. Most cases warp is beyond shaving so, you end up replacing it and they are going for at least a grand.

All cars have pros and cons, but the primary reason that I love my RX-7 is its uniqueness.

Just as pvd212 said it's all about maintenance and understanding your car. If you are not much into mechanic aspect of any vehicle I sure wouldn't recommend RX-7 because you'll be crying your eyes out because you blew seals or something else and having take it to the dealer, which BTW, most Mazda dealer shop do not have mechanics who actually can work on the rotary engine. And that's a fact!
