High probability that cat needs to be ck'd into, but in the meantime, ck your plugs and see if the car is running too rich. Unfortunately, if your car is running too rich cat have a tendency to plug up much quicker. What I would do is to get a new set of plugs and see if that would burn the fuel cleaner, thus, higher chance of passing smog.
