If you're having to rebuild it I'd suggest just go for TII.

And congrats on 150K! I know a guy who has 202K and still running...

Yes, mine is TII.

I bought a rebuilt and swapping didn't take too long.

what is required on doing the tii swap component wise other than engine setup? for an 86 and an 87?

Engie, tranny, ECU to go with it, drive shaft, rear end, axles and whole lot of patient and a will. Oh and preferably a matching harness or go with aftermarket EMS.

Both are going to be expensive, I have a buddy that did the Turbo N/A conversion and he got good power out of it with a better low end than a Tll because of the higher compression. But the turbo n/a conversion takes ALOT of machining and the right tools. You basically need your own shop. If you do not have the time and money then dont attempt it will be a long and costly project. On the other hand the Tll swap is easier and probably cheaper because even with the N/a turbo conversion you need the new rear end and drive shaft and tranny if you want it to handle the power. For the Tll swap go with aftermarket wiring harness you dont want to deal with the wiring problems of the old one. Hope this info has helped.
