Starting & Flooding Troubles
 

Hello everyone - I was given a 1985 Mazda RX-7 GSL. Car was not running when I got it, but over the last few months, with the aid of a local mechanic, we got it running. However, the car has trouble starting once it warms up. Also, if the car sits, it has a hard time starting. Once is does start, a lot white smoke comes from the exhaust. Smells like gas. Seems I am fogging the neighborhood for bugs. Doesn't go through that much oil, so it seems the car is flooding really bad. The carb seems ok, but possibly time for a rebuild or maybe something with the motor. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated? Mechanic checked the compression, and he mentioned it is within specs.
