the sti's aren't really ugly, and they hold they're own. However, the others are not my cup of tea. I beat a EVO in my old T2 back in the day when they frist came out. We went from a 40 mph roll. Had a car and a half on him by the end of 3rd gear. The srt 4's are ugly, but are fast for what they are. I saw a pretty much stock srt4 run a 13.78 at Texas Motorplex in Ennis, TX. All he had was a catback exhaust, intake, and a blow off valve. Pretty respectable time for a neon.

Hey AusT, I still think my idea is better... what do you think? Shhhhhhhh ;)

Hehehe, do you remember my version of that? I've fabbed the brackets and stuff already, just need to move some other junk and order some aluminum to weld into the right shape :). fits perfectly right now though.

yeah i have driven neumerous sti's and evos... the version 7 sti was impressive on comparison to their prev versions(more economical, lighter, faster).... although the ra sti's are great fun when your hammering it around tarseal with your mates constantly adjusting the lockness of the central diff
evos suspension standard REALLY sucks, even in the evo 7, still desighned more for comfort than cornering at speed... but when it all comes down to it, they are all 4wd, so theyre for farmers and asians kids, we have rwd, so we are better than them from scratch, id rather be doing 40mph sideways than 100mph around a corner in a 4wd peace Pscyho_Dad |

The reason for lack of OEM FMIC use in the past wasn't for any performance defficiency but rather for meeting DOT crash regulations.
This is one of the reasons why the EVO took so long to reach our shores and the main reason why US-legalized Skylines are so expensive. Motorex had to buy three or four Skylines to crash test them in order to get them federalized. And the IC in MS Protege is also vertically mounted if I recall correctly, designed by Callaway. |
