well last week when i was looking for a car i decided to stop at mazda. i got to sit in a 8. it was really cool. and i almost got to take it for a test drive. the sales rep was a chick and she was making it pretty obvious that she was hitting on me. the interior is really cool. i really like. but i have never sat in a 7.

yea rx8's are awesome, but I would rather buy a 3rd gen. I mean dont get me wrong if you want a brand new look and similiar power to an fd with warranty then go ahead. But if you want to take it a step further then there goes the waranty. And I know Mazda is gonna keep a close eye on every warranty repair. Plus the $30k pricetag doesnt help much.

Personally, I still like the design of the RX7 more than the 8. But the RX8 is a look that grows on you.

Your right Finchy...the RX8 does need to grow on yea, it looks great but small to me compared to the 7 3rd Gen. I really like both but do think the 7 3 Gen style looks better. Well for now anyways.. :D

Yeah, I like the 3rd gen the best. It's a rare car where I live. Seen one RX7 ever. But have seen a few RX 8s driving around.

You are right...I to don't see many around here either. I think that the 3rd gen 7's are sleaker looking then the 8's..:D

Finchy...you thinking about getting one?

With my income, I can't even afford a used Geo Metro, without the doors, tires, engine and headlamps........word up!! :D

I didn't like the RX8 when it first came out. Now that the engine specs are worse, I like it even less.

I'd rather drive a Saturn.

I love the rx8... I respect anything with a wankel in it... But the rx8 needs some soul, dunno if you people know what im talking about, but I guess over time the rx8 will prove itself.. I mean it does have a slitly new design and the power out put is almost as equal as the 3rd gen's output. O and the problem with the engine spec was that they dont have emmisions in japan so thats why power output is different..

We will see if they can power it up more. Which they will, but when is the question!!

The RX-8 is underpowered. SRT4's are kicking it around the block. That's not supposed to happen. In 2004, 250hp is the bare minimum for a sport car, IMO.

And call it what you will, but the RX-8 is a 4 dr. I just can't respect that.

Well we will see what they come up with in the 2005's. I think that they my beef up the engine, but like I said..we will see.. ;)

youre right in one sense... but when they made the rx8 their goal definately wasnt speed. Yea an srt4 is faster but guess what, its a neon.. plus they have a bunch of problems with them already, like motor mounts, and some electrical problems.. but when they come out with the MAZDASPEED Rx8 I want to see what people are gunna say.

STi's are 4 doors and they're faster stock than any RX7. But I despise STi's for a number of reasons so please find some reason to bash them aside from the 4 door family car shit.

RX-8's are in their first year of production people, give it time and Mazda will be selling Turbo'd RX-8's. They wait so people with N/A RX8's trade in their old ones for new ones and they make more money. I helped a guy supercharge his RX8 last night, he used an electric supercharger and damn, it's faster than my FC now. Others who have done this are claiming 100 HP increases from the start. AND on top of that RX8's have shitty intake, and exhaust. Once people do some work on them they'll be respectable.

I knew that from the start...all companies do that....so I figured it would get a supercharger in 05 or 06..

Most companies go with Turbocharger. Longer engine life that way with a sufficient Blowoff valve. It'll be tricky with the FE though.

mazda was having problems with the reduced exhaust heat created by a turbo, ruining the efficiency of the cat converters. A turbo RX-8 just would not pass emissions, period, which is why some people think that they will supercharge it soon.

AusTexRex

They also had the turbo placed near the front of the engine bay, so the exhaust piping had lots of time to lose heat before the cats.

Mazdaspeed has been working on a model that has the conventional placing for the turbo and such. The original RX-8 setup is just another example of retarded Mazda engineering. Kinda like having a coolant pipe in your Upper Intake be two inches long and nearly impossible to replace correctly.

So true. I think their engineers design it so most people just can't work on it with out them "special tools" and very tiny hands and long arms.

God knows they did that to my car. "Hmm, we need coolant to this part of the block... Why don't we put in a 90 degree bent rubber hose thats 2 inches long?" "because that would be retarded and hard to work on" "exactly!"
