I posted in the 1st generation site regarding a 79 rx7 running rich. Need some help with where to start assuming carb adjusted correctly and timing to spec. Some say thermal reactor worn out? plugged? Must correct this to pass calif. smog for transfer. thanks in advance.

First, I'd recommend removing all the carbon build up in your engine by using ATF...which helps to burn fuel much cleaner and ck your cat and see that works.

Thanks for the reply, but I'm told this 79 does not have a cat. converter but instead a thermal reactor? I will try the ATF but my car starts right up and runs good except for a slightly hunting idle 750 to 900 rpm. I'm told I can add a cat converter with no problem with smog board?

thermal reactor... rx7 processes exhaust twice to meet (or come close) the emission issue.
Oh, yeah, installing a cat would help get you pass the smog.
